Background
Year Founded: 2016
Brique par brique (BxB), founded in 2016 by community organizers, addresses the need for affordable housing in the gentrifying, multicultural Parc-Extension neighborhood through a social justice lens. Beyond housing, the organization operates a cultural center that fosters solidarity and empowers diverse low-income residents, newcomers, and immigrants, by providing a welcoming space for expression, resource-sharing, and community-building. Through strategic collaborations and community economic development, Brique par brique actively challenges systemic barriers, building a neighborhood where all residents feel seen, valued, and supported.
